SEPTEMBER AFTERMATH
By Nancy Culver Thomson
There have been three main conventions within two months, the Republican, Democrat, and the UN Charter for Global Democracy that was held in New York. The public finds it easy to relate to political party charades without any substance. International affairs and especially the UN is unfamiliar territory. This UN meeting bringing together the largest group of world leaders ever assembled probably didn’t attract widespread concern.
There would have been more interest if people realized the connection between the White House political candidates and the agenda at the Global Democracy UN headquarters in New York. As most would agree the difference in Republican or Democrat foreign affairs is merely a matter of degree. Since the founding of the UN in 1945 the cornerstone of US international and domestic policy has revolved around this communist assembly. Not one US president from either party has even suggested withdrawing from the UN even though this international organization has committed illegal actions on a global scale.
UN Secretary General Kofi Annan’s top aide, Canadian socialist Maurice Strong, was given the assignment of "reforming" the UN. Thus the Global Democracy conference to have the world community confirm the new "directions charter." Annan admitted the UN had picked up some bad habits (squandering millions of dollars and causing disasters in foreign countries) which required new remedies. Under the guise of reforming the financial and logistic aspects of the UN Strong was actually turning the international body into a global dictatorship. Using the buzz word "democracy" the US and UN set about creating democracies through out the third world. Russia’s corrupt political and economic system suddenly was declared to be a democracy. We were assured our $60 billion trade deficit with China would turn this communist country into a democracy also.
Benefits given members of the UN bureaucracy including high priced retirement top congressional payments. Kofi Annan lives in luxury while we taxpayers pay the bill. He receives a $350, 000 a year salary (no taxes). We pay for all his chauffeurs, limousines, bodyguards, and staff. Secretary General Annan presided over this UN meeting that established the following procedures which are provided by the American Policy Center
The UN will oversee all financial institutions, commerce, trade and labor relations, education and private property. They will have dominion over land, sea and air. Even the radio waves would be under their control.
In addition to the above, Secretary General Annan wants a Rapid Deployment Force to answer conflicts erupting around the world. Before becoming Secretary, Kofi was head of the UN army responsible for spending over $4 billion of US funds for peacekeeping missions. He knows all about assembling and funding the military. Although a Rapid Deployment force is requested in effect the UN has had such a group operating for some time. The latest action involves 600 US Marines sent to East Timor. Their three day duties include providing medical, and dental care. They will also put roofs on schools, do community work, and logistic aid. Captain Hutchens declared this mission had been planned for months and was on the regular training schedule. Is UN duty now used as the training course for our military?
Currently there are nine Marines based PERMANENTLY in East Timor, and thirty -five more military will arrive from Okinawa, Japan. It seems US ships have aided Australian peacekeepers several times this year in their UN mission in Timor. This information comes from Reuters, not from an American source. How many other UN missions are we involved in and under whose command?
Complaints have come from some critics about "peacekeeping." Our own defense needs are being sacrificed so that US funds can be applied to UN deployment overseas. Marines are supposed to be offensive "first into battle units." Working as "social engineers" destroys their military training. They have to be retrained as a fighting force after serving as peacekeepers.
Establishment of a global EPA is another item from the Charter for Global Democracy that has already been acted upon. Our own non- elected EPA bureaucrats have implemented aspects of the global warming treaty by working with environmental activists at state and local levels. The administration won’t disclose critical documents. Some information that has been obtained indicates that officials are considering regulations, taxes, and mandates to implement the UN treaty.
Much thought and propaganda always accompanies UN endeavors. During the New York Global conference, ads were placed on buses and in the media extolling the accomplishments of the United Nations. Ted Turner has also funded a series of UN advertisements designed to make congress pay a debt we don’t owe to these internationalists. Called a "Better World" campaign it featured Henry Kissinger and James Baker, both former Secretaries of State. These ads were addressed to congressional leaders.
The International Criminal Court as envisioned by the Global Charter can be imposed without a vote by the Senate. If the majority of the countries vote for it, all other nations will be under its jurisdiction. Playing a key role in the Court battle was the World Federalist Movement, or Association (WFM). This organization is an NGO (non-governmental organization) in the UN. Although based in Washington the public isn’t aware that the WFM receives funds from foreign governments. It also receives support form some famous names such as John Anderson (former Congressman and presidential candidate) and Walter Cronkite. Government contacts include Strobe (no borders) Talbott and Norman Cousins who founded the World Federalist Association. Clinton has wished the organization success.
With this list of associations it is obvious that the UN and our government are in synch. This is only a small piece of the puzzle that is uniting all of us to a "Global Democracy." It in no way resembles our Republic.
